With special attention paid to the word ‘help’, the answer to this question in most cases is yes.
There are certain things that microdosing is reported to improve with little to no effort. The most frequently reported benefits are reduced anxiety, improved focus, elevated mood, increased creativity and overall presence. And what better state to be in if you’re looking to overcome fears, break unhealthy habits or take on a new challenge!
There is some emerging research connecting microdosing and neuroplasticity (in short, the brain’s ability to change). While this neuroplasticity that opens the window to growth, it’s the integrative practices we engage in that drive transformation. We don’t always just take the pill and wait for the magic to happen.
Just like with macrodosing, having a well defined intention is an important part of your microdosing practice. Not only does it help guide your experience and ensure that your actions align with your goals, but a clear intention also helps in tracking progress and understanding the benefits or challenges you encounter along the way. For example: if someone’s intention is to improve their sleep, they will ideally be tracking their sleep patterns as a way to gauge the success of microdosing. And while they may experience some improvement without giving it much effort, they can also introduce relaxation techniques to enhance the experience. These relaxation techniques will be much more easily integrated when the brain is in a state of increased neuroplasticity.
The template for this example can be applied to many other specific intentions. For a microdoser looking to strengthen family relationships, they can keep track of positive and negative interactions over time. They may also wish to engage in some sort of therapy – of which the brain will be more accepting in its neuroplastic state. For someone wishing to break an unhealthy habit: this can be tracked in a journal too, and the microdosing will prepare the brain to accept the introduction of new healthier habits, positive affirmations etc.
So will you be able to do the splits while playing the violin? Well… probably not… the plasticity is in your brain, not your body… although the research supporting increased cognitive function with microdosing (particularly stacking with Lion’s Mane and Niacin) may just give you the brain boost you need to succeed at learning to play the violin!
To sum it all up, microdosing offers a promising avenue for personal growth and transformation, but it requires active participation and clear intentions. By integrating complementary practices such as journaling, therapy, and relaxation techniques, you can maximize the benefits of microdosing. While the journey may not turn you into a virtuoso gymnast or musician overnight, it can significantly enhance your cognitive functions and emotional well-being, opening doors to new possibilities and helping you achieve your goals. Remember, the key to success lies in your commitment to the process and your willingness to engage with the opportunities for growth that arise.
